SC Commission Chairman, Members to be appointed soon: Govt

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) The Chairman, Vice Chairman and other members of the Scheduled Caste Commission would be appointed before the end of the ongoing Budget session of Parliament, the government assured the Lok Sabha today.

The assurance was given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi after the issue was raised during zero hour by Mr Ramjilal Suman (SP).

The entire process for the appointments was almost over, he said.

Pointing out that the Commission was a Constitutional body and it was not an administrative set up, Mr Dasmunsi said ''there is no confusion about it.'' As such, the members need not have any doubts over the commitment of the UPA government to the socio-economic development of the SCs, STs and other backward classes.
