Rupee eases, ends at 41.18/20 per dollar

Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) The Rupee today ended at 41.18/20 per dollar at an intra-day low of 41.45, weaker than its previous close of 41.09 per dollar.

However, it pared most of its losses as banks sold dollars in late trade and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stayed out of the market.

The Rupee touched a day's high of 41.17 before closing at 41.18/20 against the USD, dealers said.

Six-month and 12-month forward premia closed at 6.01 percent (6.80) and 4.83 percent (5.12), respectively.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 41.29 per US dollar, down by 22 paise from its Friday's rate of Rs 41.07 per USD, according to a RBI spokesperson here.

The domestic unit showed stronger trend against the major world currencies.

Against the Euro, the domestic unit closed stronger at 55.86/88 (55.67) per unit each, against Pound it finished higher at 81.81/82 (81.60) per unit each and the Yen was also quoted stronger at 34.29/30 (34.20) per 100 units each, traders said.

The market will remain closed on Tuesday and Wednesday on account of Maharashtra Day and Buddha jayanti respectively.
