Record wheat procurement in Haryana

Chandigarh, Apr 30 (UNI) Government agencies have set a new record of procurement of wheat in Haryana during the current Rabi season by procuring 24.40 lakh metric tonne (MTs) of wheat as against a total of 22.30 lakh MTs during the last season.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said over 27.15 lakh MTs of wheat had arrived in 360 mandis of the state till yesterday. Of this, 24.40 lakh MTs was purchased by six government procurement agencies while traders purchased 2.75 lakh MTs.

He said HAFED has purchased 9.33 lakh MTs, followed by Food and Supply Department, which had procured 5.89 lakh MTs, Food Corporation of India had procured 2.75 lakh MTs, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 2.34 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.20 lakh MTs and Confed has purchased 1.86 lakh MTs.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that Kaithal district is still ahead in the arrival of wheat with 4.09 lakh MTs followed by Karnal 4.02 lakh MTs, Fatehabad with 3.64 lakh MTs, Jind 3.48 lakh MTs and Kurukshetra 2.58 lakh MTs and Hisar 1.51 lakh MTs.
