RBI revises Priority sector norms

Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) The Reseve Bank of India (RBI) today notified the revised norms for the Priority sector and with effect to this housing loans upto 20 lakh has been brought under the sector by the Apex bank.

According to the revised guidelines on lending to Priority sector under the category of priority sector will include - loans up to Rs 20 lakh to individuals for purchase/construction of dwelling unit per family, (excluding loans granted by banks to their own employees) and loans given for repairs to the damaged dwelling units of families up to Rs one lakh in rural and semi-urban areas and up to Rs two lakh in urban and metropolitan areas.
