Parliament to commemorate 150th anniversary of 1857
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Parliament of India will organise different programmes on May 10 as part of the celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the First War of Independence.
The commemorative function would be inaugurated by President A P J Abdul Kalam at the Central Hall of Parliament in the morning of May 10. This will be followed by a concert by ghazal singer Jagjit Singh and classical singer Shubha Mudgal.
Parliament sources said more than 300 artistes will perform in 29 stages in a cultural programme in the evening of May 10.
The venue of the cultural programme is yet to be fixed.
"A decision is to be taken whether it is to be organised at the Purana Quila or Vijay Chowk," sources said.
