No trace of Haseena Parkar

Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) Even as the Mumbai Police continued its efforts to track down elusive Haseena Parkar, sister of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, there seemed to be little headway in the search operation.

Haseena Parkar had gone missing from her Nagpada residence in South Mumbai last week after the police registered cases of extortion, cheating and criminal breach of trust against her for her involvement in a slum rehabilitation project.

''We are making all out efforts to track her down. We have made five teams, who have fanned out to trace Haseena. These teams have been sent to every possible place,'' Crime Branch ACP, Syed Mobin, said.

He said ''We have also questioned Haseena's only daughter to know her whereabouts''.

When asked which places the police had looked for her, Syed refused to divulge information saying ''investigations were at a crucial stage and it was not proper for him to disclose any other information at this juncture.'' Earlier, a local court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Haseena Parkar. Soon after her lawyer, Shyam Keswani, issued a statement saying that his client was not an absconder and was very much in town, and would surrender before competent authorities in a short time.
