Srinagar, Apr 30 (UNI) Security forces today launched a massive operation in the Hyderpora area to prevent chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani from addressing a press conference at his residence.

Mr Geelani was scheduled to address a press conference in connection with the recent arrest of four of his senior colleagues under Public Safety Act (PSA) and Judicial custody of 13 others.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir police personnel today cordoned off entire Hyderpora, including the house of Mr Geelani on Srinagar-Airport road.

However, a UNI correspondent who visited the area saw the Airport road through, though security forces personnel have been deployed on both sides of the route.

A CRPF official guarding the bylane going towards the residence of Mr Geelani from the main road said that they have instructions from higher authorities not to allow anybody to enter the area.

He said operation was conducted following an information about the presence of militants.

However, official sources said security forces were looking for some people who participated in a rally on April 22 where anti national slogans were raised.
