Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) Former BJP MP Dr Kirit Somaiya today alleged that investigations into the income-tax raids against Pune-based Hasan Ali had slowed down and questioned as to why the case was not handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Dr Somaiya told reporters that tax raids were conducted more than 100 days ago on Hasan Ali and eight agencies including IT, Intelligence Bureau and SEBI were already investigating the matter and wondered in this situation why the CBI should not get involved in the same.

Dr Somaiya said the finance minister was informed about Hasan Ali on February 6 and is well aware about the findings of the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

He also alleged that Hasan Ali had invested huge amounts through Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange. He demanded that the investigating agencies should unearth the issue fast.

It may be recalled that on January 5 the raids were conducted at the residence of Hasan Ali in Mumbai and Pune and simultaneously the raids were conducted at the premises of Kashinath Tapuria at Kolkata.
