Indian Coast Guard gets new MRCC building in Andaman

Port Blair, Apr 30 (UNI) The Director General Coast Guard Vice Admiral R F Contractor today inaugurated the new Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre and COMSTAN building here.

This centre will not only enhance the seashore communication but also strengthen the search and rescue capabilities of coast guard in the region, Vice Admiral Contractor said, after inaugurating the building.

He said that this long-awaited construction will be the first of its kind in coast guard at Andaman and Nicobar and yet another milestone of this region towards infrastructure development.

The Director General congratulated the concerned persons in getting the building ready in record time and lauded the region on their role in the recently conducted anti-poaching operation where six boats with 43 poachers were apprehended after three days of concerted efforts of Coast Guard Ships and Aircraft.
