IAF to deploy trained falcons to control bird menace

Gandhinagar, Apr 30 (UNI) The Indian Air Force is considering a proposal to deploy trained falcons to control the bird menace at airbases across the country.

Talking to reporters here, outgoing AOC-in-C of SWAC Air Marshal P K Mehra said the front-line air bases are facing a major challenge of controlling bird menace at the Air base.

''Swarms of small sparrows fly in a flock at the Nalia Air base in Kutch, causing landing and take off hazards for aircraft'', he said.

Air Marshal Mehra said the Air Force is seeking bird trainers or experts for providing training to falcons.
