HLL sales grew by 13.8 per cent

Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) FMCG major Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) announced today that its sales grew by 13.8 per cent for the quarter ended March 31.

Announcing its quarterly results here, HLL said its total sales grew by 13.8 per cent, while growth in continuing businesses, that is after eliminating impact of disposals, was higher at 14.7 per cent. While its domestic FMCG business grew by 12.3 per cent.

Home and personal care business grew at 10 per cent with double digit growth in the highly competitive laundry and shampoo categories, while its foods business grew by 23 per cent.

In beverages, the company's tea business grew strongly, with the entire range of Brooke Bond brand performing well. Ice cream continued its almost more than 20 per cent growth.

''Inflationary pressures remain a cause for concern but we continue to steer aggressive cost effectiveness programmes, manage judicious price increases and drive for an improved portfolio mix.

Our strategic priority remains unchanged,'' HLL chairman Harish Manwani said.
