GHCL PAT up 23 per cent, consolidates 4 operations abroad

Ahmedabad, Apr 30 (UNI) Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd (GHCL) has shown a consolidated income from operations for the 15 months (January 2006 to March 2007) at Rs 2777.55 crore, while the EBIDTA was Rs 235.15 crore.

Income from operations for the period ending March 2007 has risen by 23 per cent to Rs 1070.78 crore as against Rs 873.19 crore for the corresponding period, said a company release here.

EBIDTA for the period has risen by 24 per cent to Rs 275.76 crore compared to Rs.221.82 crore in the corresponding period.

PAT (Profit After Tax) for the period was up by 23 per cent to Rs 148.09 crore against Rs 120.10 crore. PAT for the present quarter ended March 2007 was Rs 33.14 crore (Rs 28.12cr), a rise of 18 per cent.

GHCL is a part of the Dalmia Group. In the textiles area, GHCL has made four substantial overseas acquisitions which include Dan River, Best Manufacturing Group, HW Baker of USA and Rosebys Retail of UK. The company is now the only integrated home textiles player in the world, where its global retail home textiles business has established an annual revenue platform of over USD 615 million per annum.

In the soda ash business, the company, through its overseas subsidiary, has acquired a majority stake in SC Bega Upsom SA.- a leading soda ash manufacturer in Romania. The total soda ash capacity (India and Romania) of the company is now at 11.5 lakhs MTPA after the recent addition of Indian capacity of 2.5 lacs MTPA.
