Five killed, 40 injured as truck overturns in Porbandar

Porbandar, Apr 30 (UNI) Five people were killed and 40 others injured when their truck overturned at Kutiyana town in the district today.

The occupants of the truck were proceeding to Mangrol to attend a convention of the shepherd community, scheduled for the afternoon, where Gujarat Chief Minister Narandra Modi was to address the event.

The incident took place at around 0900 hrs.

The injured have been admitted to a civic hospital here. The condition of some of them is stated to be critical, sources said.

Four of the five deceased were identified as Kisha Naran, Raja Naran, Dosa Lakhman and Lakhmana Ghana, police said, adding the identity of the fifth was yet to be ascertained.
