Agartala, Apr 30 (UNI) At least five 'Cheetal Deer' have died recently due to heavy Norwester at the Sepahijala Zoo, about 25 km from here under Bishalgarh sub-division.

According to official sources here today, the authorities of Zoo and doctors carried out post-mortem on the dead 'Cheetal Deer' and preliminary report showed that the cause of death was due to cardiac arrest and stress caused by Norwester.

The deaths of deer were not a case of unnatural death as the animals were too cowed, the sources said and added that to get a further detailed report, the post-mortem report sample was sent to Guwahati Animal Husbandry College.

There are more than 400 such deers in the zoo and all preventive measures for saving this animal has been taken by the authorities, sources remarked.
