Fire in cotton mill causes loss of about Rs 40 lakh

Badwani, MP, Apr 30 (UNI) A fire broke out in a cotton mill last night, gutting several bales of cotton kept in the warehouse and in the open in this district's Sendhwa town.

The blaze was contained early today, police said, adding that the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained.

A loss of about Rs 40 lakh was estimated, Manjit Fibres proprietor Rajendra Singh Rajpal said.

Fire engines from Sendhwa, Rajpur and Anjad were pressed into service to bring the blaze under control, he said.

Badwani and its adjoining areas are reeling under severe heat wave with day temperature hovering around 48 degrees Celsius.
