CPI decreases by one point

Shimla, Apr 30 (UNI) The All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) number for industrial workers, on base 2001=100, decreased by one point to stand at 127 during March this year, official sources said today.

The index decreased by three points in Sholapur center, two points in eight centers and one point in 17 centers.

The sources said the index increased by four points each in Labac-Silchar and Siliguri centers, three in Kodarma center, two in five centers and by one point in 18 centers, while remaining stationary in 26 centers during March.

The decrease of three points in Sholapur center was due to fall in the prices of rice, wheat, jowar, arhar dal, onion, garlic, vegetable and fruit items and electricity charges.

The sources said the increase of four points in Labac-Silchar center was due to rise in the prices of rice, fresh fish and pan leaves, while the increase of four points in Siliguri center was due to rise in the prices of rice, wheat atta, urd dal, masur dal, mustard oil, pork, green chillies, vegetable and fruits and cinema charges.

The index in respect of Bangalore stood at 132, followed by 130 at Mumbai, 128 at Kolkata, 127 at Ahmedabad, 125 at Delhi and 121 at Chennai 121, the sources added.
