Councillors lock civil supplies dept officials

Puducherry, Apr 30 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time as a few councillors of the Ozhukarai municipality here today locked up certain officials of civil supplies department to air their anger against them.

The councillors alleged that the officials of the civil supplies department did not heed to AIADMK councillor Ganesan, who went to the department this morning to get some works done.

Moreover, the officials allegedly abused the councillor.

Following this, the other councillors who came to know about the incident, gathered in front of the civil supplies department and locked up the officials, demanding an apology from them.

Meanwhile, Ozhukarai Municipal Chairman N S J Jayapal rushed to the spot and pacified the councillors and officials of the civil supplies department.

Later, the office was opened.
