Cong to take up Gujarat fake encounters issue at all fora: Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Parliamentary Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader Priyaranjan Dasmunsi today said the party was shocked over the fake encounters in Gujarat and taking up the issue at all fora.

Though refusing to discuss the issue as a Minister of the UPA government as the matter was pending before the Court, Mr Dasmunsi said in the capacity of a Congress leader he would reiterate that ''Congress is clear that it is a great shock to the nation. The party is taking it up at all fora.'' Asked whether Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should take moral responsibility for the killing of innocent people in fake encounters, Mr Dasmunsi take a dig at the Chief Minister by saying, ''He is brave enough to allow such incidents.'' Regarding whether Parliament would discuss the matter, he said that till May 22 many debates may take place. ''Many debates are in the pipeline, but it will depend upon the perception of the chairman and the Speaker to allow any such debate.'' Asked whether the Gujarat Government accepting before the apex court that Kauser Bi, wife of Sohrabuddin, who was killed in a fake encounter in Ahmedabad, has also been killed by the state police would strengthen the Congress demand for a CBI inquiry, Mr Dasmunsi said that he could not comment on it as judiciary was independent to take any decision. However, he would support the party's stand over the issue, he added.
