Case filed against Mandira for denigrating national flag
Kozhikode, Apr 30 (UNI) A case was filed in a local court here against TV anchor Mandira Bedi and her designer Satya Paul for denigrating the national flag.
Mr K K Pushparaj, a native of Koilandy in the district filed the petition before the the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM).
As the CJM was on holiday, the CJM first class magistrate after receiving the petition posted the case to May 10 for hearing.
It may be recalled that a case was filed in Jaipur against Ms Bedi and designer Puneet Nanda under the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act for ''showing the tricolour as a show piece''.
Ms Bedi, hosting the ''extrainnings'' show on the final match of the World Cup cricket on a TV channel Saturday night, appeared in a sari featuring the national flags of all 16 participating countries.
But the tricolour was at the bottom at knee level.
Following the wide spread criticism, she had apologised.
