BSP selling Indian democracy: Amar Singh
Mirzapur, Apr 30 (UNI) Flaying BSP Chief Mayawati, Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh today accused her of ''selling India's democracy in the form of party tickets''.
Addressing an election meeting here, accompanied by SP MPs and actors Jaya Prada and Jaya Bachchan, Mr Singh said ''Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha are holy institutions, where people's welfare, future and security are decided, but Ms Mayawati is selling all these openly in the form of party tickets.'' Coming down on the Congress, the SP leader asserted the party had always believed in 'divide and rule' policy.
''Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says that his grandmother divided Pakistan...but he does not know that his grandparents not only divided Pakistan, but also India,'' Mr Singh added.
Praising SP supremo and UP chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, both the Bollywood actors urged the people to vote for the party.
''Mr Yadav has done a lot for the people of all the communities, especially women,'' Ms Prada said.
Ms Jaya Bachchan said ''I am a daughter of Brahmin and married to a Kayastha, therefore, I do not believe in caste distinction. I promise that UP will become 'Uttam Pradesh', if SP retains power.'' UNI
