BJP releases list of its candidates for SMC

Shimla, Apr 30 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today released the first list of 21 candidates for Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections, which are to be held on May 23.

The party released a list of candidates for 21 wards out of a total of 25, while giving tickets to 15 new people, party president Jai Ram Thakur said in a release after the party's state executive meeting here.

He said Sanjiv Sood would be the party's candidate from ward no one Bharari, Sanjiv Thakur from ward no two (Ruldu Bhata), Pradeep Kashyap from ward no four (Annadale), Sukh Ram from ward no five (Summerhill), Sagar Chand from ward no six (Totu), Kiran Baba from ward no seven (Boiloganj) and Ms Taravati from ward no eight (Tutikandi).

Sanjay Sood is the party candidate from ward no ten (Fagli), Ms Bandana from ward no 11 (Krishna Nagar), Navin sood from ward no 13 (The Mall road), Manoj Kuthiala from ward no 14 (Jakhu), Anup Vaid from ward no 15 (Benmore), Kamal Thakur from ward no 16 (Engine Ghar) and Vijay Sharma from ward no 17 Sanjuali, he said.

Mr Thakur said Paras Ram would contest elections from ward no 18 (Dhalli), Rajender Chauhan from ward no 19 (Chamyana), Nisha Verma from ward no 20 (Malyana), Sanjay Sharma from ward no 21 (Kasumpati), Rajender Thakur from ward no 22 (Chotta Shimla), Tikku Thakur from ward no 24 (Khalini) and Brijbala Sood from ward no 25 (Kanlog).

The party would announce the names of candidates for ward no three, nine, 12 and 23 later on, he added.
