BJP non-commital on second term for Kalam

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) The BJP remained non-committal on a second term for President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Talking to mediapersons here today, BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra, however, strongly denied that the party as a policy, was opposed to second term to any President as suggested by media reports.

"We have never taken this stand since the time of first President Rajendra Prasad," he said, adding the reports were ''mischievous.'' Asked if they would agree to Dr Kalam re-elected as President, Mr Malhotra said the issue had not yet been discussed by the party.
