BJP MLA acquitted of murder in MP

Rajgarh, MP, Apr 30 (UNI) A local court today acquitted local BJP MLA Haricharan Tiwari, his brother Janpad President Ramakant and 16 others who were charged with murder.

According to prosecution, a dispute ensued on September 25, 2001 over a candidate form regarding a Land Development Bank poll.

Congress worker Ramcharan Dangi (35) died on the spot and some others were injured after being allegedly assaulted by BJP Cooperatives movement leader Haricharan, Ramakant and others.

Judge K C Garg handed down the acquittal as witnesses' statements were ''contradictory.'' UNI
