BJ to begin fast for cane compensation
Bhopal, Apr 30 (UNI) The Uma Bharti-founded Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) today announced that it would launch an indefinite fast at Jabalpur from May 3 in support of the demand for adequate compensation to Madhya Pradesh's sugarcane farmers.
''The ryots are having to suffer losses courtesy the state government's anti-peasant policies,'' BJ General Secretary Prahlad Patel said here at a meeting, marking the party's first anniversary.
He demanded compensation of Rs 25,000 per hectare.
