Afzal Guru withdraws request for general ward
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Parliament attack convict Mohammed Afzal Guru today withdrew his application in a city court here seeking his transfer to a general ward from solitary confinement in Tihar jail.
In an application filed earlier before the court, Afzal had saught an end to his solitary confinement which he said was leading to ''mental complications''. He had requested that he be kept in the general ward.
Mohammad Afzal, also known as Afzal Guru, was handed down the death sentence by a trial court last year and his mercy petition is still pending before President A P J Abdul Kalam.
