15 more arrested for betting on World Cup cricket

Bangalore, Apr 30 (UNI) The city police have rounded up 15 persons, including some bookies, indulged in betting on World Cup cricket matches in the city and seized Rs 13 lakhs in cash and other articles.

Police said that nine persons were arrested from Siddapura area in Jayanagar for making bettings, while two others were held under Upparpet police limits. Four others were arrested during the last two days.

In all 42 persons were arrested in the state since Saturday night following the crackdown on gambling on the World Cup final played between Australia and Sri Lanka. A Cash of Rs 3.24 lakh was confiscated. While 40 were arrested in Bellary, two others had been apprehended in the city.
