Patiala, Apr 29 (UNI) Woman lifter Archana Boro (63 kg) stole the limelight in the national weightlifting trials (junior men and women) held here this afternoon at the NIS to select the Indian squad for Junior World Weightlifting Championship slated for June 7 to 15 in Prague.

Six lifters in the men's section ---Goswami (56 kg), Sumit Wadar (62 kg), Rustam Sarang (62 kg), Lalhanba (69 kg), K.Deepak (69 kg) and Baljit Singh (85 kg) and five lifters in the women's section --- Suni Bala (53 kg), Mageswari (58 kg), Archana Boro (63 kg), Sristi Singh (69 kg) and Tulsi (75 kg) appeared in the trials.

The secretary-general of Indian Weightlifting Federation, Balbir Singh Bhatia, said that the Indian squad for Prague will be announced shortly. The chief coach in the ongoing National camp, Jaswant Singh, told UNI that in all probability two boys and three girls are likely to be in the squad.

When asked why there is no foreign weightlifting coach attached to the national senior weightlifting camp currently in progress at Bangalore, Mr Bhatia said that no foreign coach is willing to come to India for reasons not known. Perhaps, it could be due to the fact that India pays too less money as compared to what other countries pay, he said.
