Visa violation: Conditional bail extended for Pakistani

Kochi, Apr 29 (UNI) A local court here extended the conditional bail of a Pakistani national who was arrested on charge of visa violation earlier this month.

According to police, the First Class Judicial Magistrate here yesterday extended the conditional bail of Mohammed Amir Salman till May 5. Salman was arrested on charges of visa violation under Section 3 (2) of the Foreigners' Act of 1946.

According to the conditional bail, Salman had to report to the investigating officer every day and is not supposed to leave Kochi, police said.

Salman was not permitted to visit Kochi as per his visa conditions and was allowed to visit only New Delhi, Mumbai,Gurgaon and Chennai, police added.

Police said that the 41-year-old multinational company official said he came here to attend a business meeting and was unaware of his visa status.

Earlier, Salman was granted conditional bail on sureties provided by his colleagues here on April 19.
