Students develop laser camera robot arm as security device
Ferozepur, Apr 29 (UNI) The students of Government Polytechnique College here have developed a laser camera robot arm which can be used to detect explosives or hidden contraband from inaccesible places.
According to a lecturer Sudhir Kumar and student Group Leader Arun Kumar, the 25kg laser-camera robot arm, first of its kind in the state, can be sent by using remote up to 70 feet to take photos which can be viewed on a television screen. The device can be run by both electricty and battery.
''It can easily be used by the police, army and other security forces to detect explosives and contraband to reach under the vehicles, in manholes or drains. It can also be turned into a capable surveillance device,'' Mr Kumar said.
According to him the students shelled out Rs 12000 from their own pockets to develop the robot-arm. He urged the Punjab government to help the students so that they are encouraged to develop more useful devices for the country.
