State to float Power Trading Corporation in future

Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Energy Minister Dilip Valse-Patil has said the state government will float a Power Trading Corporation through its holding company in near future to cope with the power shortage.

Speaking at a seminar here yesterday, he said the Power Trading Corporation will sign power purchase agreements with small industries which will pave way for the industries to purchase power.

To tide over the power shortage, the government has chalked out several plans, including feeder separation, and single phasing. The government proposes to generate 10,000 MW power over the next five years, he said.

Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Patangrao Kadam, who was also present at the seminar, said there was a need to focus more attention on education, agriculture and water harvesting for the benefit of the state.
