Spell of political coercion in J

Srinagar, Apr 29 (UNI) Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig today said the spell of political coercion in Jammu and Kashmir will soon end as the resolution of the contentious issue was round the corner.

''Kashmir is a sheer political issue and can only be resolved politically. Let me tell you, its resolution is round the corner,'' he told gatherings at Ajas and Sundarwani in Bandipora district.

Mr Baig said right from the formation of the PDP, the party has maintained that political exploitation and muscle-power cannot resolve the long-standing Kashmir issue.

During the past four years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented change on the political and economic front, he added.

The former Deputy Chief Minister said the PDP believed in a dignified solution to the Kashmir issue. ''And the coalition government led by Mufti Muhammad Sayeed brought a new era of peace, development and prosperity to the state, the result of which the whole world will soon see.'' He said there has been a visible improvement in the ground situation. ''Now there is no fear psychosis, no nocturnal raids and people are feeling secure,'' Mr Baig added.
