PSI hurt in Naxal firing
Nagpur, Apr 29 (UNI) A police sub-inspector (PSI) was hurt when a group of suspected Naxalites opened fire at him in Gadchiroli district yesterday, police today said.
PSI A V Garade had gone with a colleague to the house of the ''sarpanch'' for some official work in Kasansur village in Stapaili tehsil of the district last evening. On their way back to the police station, a group of six Naxalites, lying in wait, fired at them from an automatic weapon, a police press release said.
A bullet hit PSI Garade on his left elbow. His colleagues chased the outlaws and opened fire at them, but they fled into the jungles, the press release said. The police later seized four empty cases of 9 mm bullets from the spot.
PSI Garade has been shifted to Nagpur for treatment and he is stated to be out of danger.
