Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 29 (UNI) Alleging that there was total failure of law and order in the State, Leader of the Opposition in State Legislative Assembly. Ramdas Kadam today demanded immediate arrest of those persons, including top policemen, named by the minor girl, for allegedly exploiting her sexually.

Addressing a press conference after meeting the rape victim, Mr Kadam said the girl had once again named at least two top police officials -- one of the Deputy Commissioner rank and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP).

Two persons, Palve and Kamble were also mentioned by the girl, but she could not give their full names, Mr Kadam said.

He said this was the second such case of sexual exploitation in the city. In the first incident, he said, a girl had reportedly claimed that bigwigs, including ministers, had raped her.

''No investigation took place in that case since the girl did not reveal the names of the so-called bigwigs,'' Mr Kadam said but added that in the second case, the minor while talking to him (Mr Kadam) had revealed the names of two top policemen and two political activists, allegedly associated with the Congress and NCP and also a press photographer. However, none have been arrested by the police, he said.

About the alleged disappearance of the girl in the earlier case, Mr Kadam said there was a possibility of threat to the life of the victim and said the government should make efforts to investigate the matter.

He said he would meet Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil and Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to disuss the issue.

He warned that Shiv Sena would take to streets and may launch flash agitation if the culprits were not arrested by the police soon.

To a question, the minister said the Sena will also take responsibility for the rehabilitation of the victims. ''We will even help in her wedding,'' he said.

Meanwhile, the police have dispatched teams to different places in search of the accused.

The police have already arrested five people, including the pimp Shamim Tabassum (50) under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) and her four accomplices. However, seven others, including four policemen named by the girl, are yet to be arrested.

The police had recently re-recorded the statement of the victims in the presence of a representative of an NGO.

Investigations into the involvement of police officers and politicians in the rape of teenager was transferred to the CID yesterday, police sources said.
