Patna, Apr 29 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed the government officers to execute various welfare and developmental schemes on time.

Addressing a meeting of district magistrates and commissioners convened here to review the implementation of welfare and development schemes, Mr Kumar told them to take up the rural employment and child development programmes as a ''challenge'', adding ''good work'' in these sectors would boost the image of Bihar.

The state government would run additional 80,000 Angawadi Sevika Centres for personality development and proper nutrition of the children, he added.

He asked the district magistrates and divisional commissioners to address the grievances of the common people at local levels with politeness while dealing with the problems.

Referring to the irregularities in the BPL list, Mr Kumar said the district magistrates had not supervised the rectification work of the house hold survey properly and directed them to redo it within the stipulated time.

Alleging that most of the violence was rooted in land disputes, he said the district magistrates would be responsible for the implementation of the land reforms measures recommended by the State Land Reforms Commission (SLRC).

The SLRC had been directed to submit its report to the government within one year, he added.
