Allahabad/Jaunpur, Apr 29 (UNI) Flaying Samajwadi Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, BSP chief Mayawati today asserted the former was fostering crime, unemployment and poverty in UP.

Addressing an election gathering here, Ms Mayawati said the SP has failed on every front. It has failed to control the law and order situation, besides giving way to unemployment and poverty in the state.

''The crime graph is at its peak. Goons and mafia rule the roost in UP. Sadly, Mulayam is turning a blind eye to it,'' former UP CM charged.

Assailing the Mulayam government, the BSP chief said the current state dispensation only had Nithari, Kavita Rani murder case and communal riots at Lucknow and Kanpur to trumpet as achievements.

She further alleged that SP supremo Mr Yadav and party general secretary Amar Singh had amassed ill-gotten wealth by siphoning funds from the state exchequer and were planning to flee the country.

''After coming to power, I will order investigation against them and will not allow them to leave the country...they will be brought to books,'' she noted.

Cautioning people, she said, ''Congress remained in power at the Centre and UP for the longest tenure but was always engaged in befooling the masses. On the other hand, BJP always tried to divide the society in the name of religion and caste. Therefore, vote for BSP if you want a better tomorrow.'' Meanwhile, in Allahabad, BSP chief claimed that her party is the only option left for UP, which at present is suffering from bad governance. ''The law and order situation is very dismal and only I am capable of uprooting the goons of SP.'' She further stated that she does not believe in communal politics and favours a secular administration.
