Kalam takes NRI woman's hug as way of appreciation

New Delhi, Apr 29: A hug by an NRI woman at the European Parliament building left President APJ Abdul Kalam bemused but he took it as all part of the game.

''There are various ways of showing appreciation. It is all in the game,'' said Dr Kalam.

He was replying to mediapersons' questions about his reaction to the incident, on board the special Air India aircraft while flying back last evening after a four-day state visit to France and Greece.

''I meet a lot of people daily and they express their admiration in their own way,'' he added.

The unidentified NRI woman had slipped passed the European Parliament security to reach Dr Kalam in a room where he was meeting EU leaders after his address to the European Parliament on April 25.
