IPS officer held for possessing disproportinate assets
Visakhapatnam, Apr 29 (UNI) The Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Superintendent of Police J G Murali midnight last night for having assets disproportinate to his known sources of income.
An ACB release here today said the assets included land, investments in real estate business in Bangalore and granite industry, a house and Maruti Zen besides household articles, worth Rs 65 lakh.
Top police sources said a case was registered and he would be produced at a court in Hyderabad tomorrow.
In a separate raid, the ACB conducted searches on the premises belonging to National Coir Board Director P Nagesh at Madhurvawada and seized documents related to real estate transactions allegedly involving Mr Murali.
Two country made pistols with 150 live rounds of ammunition were also seized by the Bheeminipatnam Rural Police. Mr Nagesh was arrested.
