Indian diplomat's house robbed

Dhaka, Apr 29 (UNI) A daring robbery was committed at Indian Deputy High Commissioner Sarbojit Chakraborty's residence in diplomatic enclave of Baridhara here early today .

The robbers cut opened the grill of window of the two-storey house at 30 Park Road and looted ornaments, cash and laptop cell phones, video camera and DVD player, initial reports said.

The Deputy High Commissioner and members of his family were sleeping when the robbery was committed.

"I went to sleep at about 2300 hrs and woke up at 0745 hrs and saw the mess in the house," Chakraborty told UNI.

He said "I cant figure out the loss in terms of money at this time." Two police guards were posted at the entrance of the house.

Perhaps they were a sleep at that time, he said.

Press Councilor Ajit Gupte said "It is a big robbery".

Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) reached the house to investigate into the incident. No one has been arrested so far.
