Election Commission to visit Gorakhpur Apr 30
Lucknow, Apr 29: The Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami will visit Gorakhpur tomorrow to review the preparation for Phase-VII polling slated on May 8 next.
The Election Commissioners will meet the district officials and senior police officials during the meeting. Election commissioners-- Naveen C Chawla and S Q Quereshi-- will also meet the representatives of the political parties during their visit.
The EC team will reach the state capital this evening and will leave for Gorakhpur tomorrow morning, said state Chief Electoral officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi here today.
The last and final Phase-VII polls will take place in 59 Assembly seats of nine districts in Eastern UP.
Meanwhile, the EC has fixed May 24 as the polling day for the adjourned elections of Khaga Assembly seat where elections were suspended due to the death of the Congress candidate Munna Lal Maurya few days ago.
