Drunken brawl at wedding in MP
Bhopal, Apr 29 (UNI) A local police station was damaged by a bride's father today in the wake of last night's drunken brawl with the groom's family during a wedding at the densely-populated Kamla Nehru Nager here.
''Local Piplani area-resident groom Yashwant Patel's wedding procession came to Kamla Nehru Nagar-resident bride Neha Patel's place last night,'' said Additional Superintendent of Police G K Pathak.
After the exchange of garlands, Yashwant's brother Rajendra came to blows with Neha's paternal aunt's son. The bride's side then assaulted the groom's brother Amrit Lal. Later, Neha's family refused to go ahead with the marriage. Police rushed to the scene, conducted a community panchayat and managed to pacify both sides.
However, another dispute ensued and Neha refused to accept the alliance.
The groom's party left the place but Yashwant reached Kamla Nagar Police Station as he was admant about tying the knot. Neha's father reached the Police Station this morning and hurled a stone that shattered a pane.
''An attempt is being made to reach an understanding,'' said Mr Pathak. A case has been registered against both sides.
