Drunk TTEs severely beat up mediapersons at MP station

Ratlam, MP, Apr 29 (UNI) Three journalists have been severely injured after being assaulted by intoxicated travel ticket examiners (TTEs) while the mediapersons were attempting to capture the officials on film while they were gambling on a train at the local station.

Government Railway Police (GRP) sources said that a head ticket checkers' departmental examination was conducted at the Ratlam Division Office yesterday. TTEs from Indore and the Military Headquarters Of War area were the candidates. After appearing for the test, a few TTEs began gambling in a coach of an Indore-bound train on Platform Number 3.

Following a tip-off, local journalist Rajesh Bairagi arrived on the scene and began capturing the crime on camera. A couple of TTEs lunged at the mediaperson, grabbed his camera and pushed him off the train. Mr Bairagi alerted his colleagues. Later, journalist Vijay Meena reached the spot.

After an argument ensued, a TTE began beating up Mr Bairagi. Mr Mahendra Bhandari rushed to save the mediaperson but was hit on the head with a stone by a TTE. Iron rods were also used on the journalists. A report was registered at the GRP Station. Ratlam Press Club President Umesh Mishra arrived on the scene with other mediapersons.

The victims were rushed to the District Hospital where Mr Bairagi and Mr Bandari were in the ICU.
