Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) Normal life in Mumbai is likely to be affected due to the decision of the Central Railway (CR) to reduce the number of local trains from 1250 to 1150 per day from Monday due to the on-going work at the Diva-Kalyan additional line.

Talking to UNI today, a CR spokesperson said that the suburb services frequency has been reduced as the CR was putting a block on the additional line, which is nearing completion. The block will continue till Wednesday. ''Though, Tuesday and Wednesday are public holidays, we will be running 64 special services between CST-Dadar to Thane-Dombivali. We have also tied up with the road transport, under which buses will be available at 8-10 minutes frequency between Kalyan and Dombivali,'' the spokesperson said.

Once the additional line work is completed, it will not only enhance the punctuality of the trains but will also result in more services on the route. The separate corridor is expected to be functional by the month end, the spokesperson added.
