Hyderabad, Apr 29 (UNI) Charging the Congress-led UPA Government with failure in implementing the Common Minimum Programme (CMP), CPI today said the UPA must undertake 'mid course correction of its policies' as it was nearing completion of three years in power.

Participating at a general body of the CPI at the party office, party national secretary D Raja said the Centre should review policies implemented since the three years and change its mindset in view of increasing unrest among common man against the UPA government.

''The UPA government would face dire political consequences if it refuses to amend its policies in the future and it will face problems if it takes the support of the Left for granted,'' he warned.

Stating that the Left parties would not 'keep quiet' on the 'anti-people' policies pursued by the Centre, Mr Raja criticised the UPA for its failure to address the plight of farmers and not giving priority to agriculture, as mentioned in the CMP.

''Communal and facist forces are gaining political advantage in the country as the has UPA failed to contain the prices of essential commodities and economic problems.'' The recent Congress debacle in Punjab and Uttarakhand elections has proved the efficiency of the UPA Government,'' he added.
