Hamirpur, Apr 29 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today accused the Congress of violating the model code of conduct, saying it had made several announcement in its Cabinet meeting yesterday, days after the election date for the Hamirpur Lok Sabha polls were announced.

The state cabinet has decided to fill several posts in various departments besides announcing to purchase vehicles for several officers of the state, just days before the polls, party spokesman Rajender Rana said at a press conference here.

Quoting a clause from the model code of conduct, he said the government had violated it by announcing the filling up of 4,422 posts in government departments, besides other announcements.

Mr Rana said the people of the state were fed up with the present state Congress Government and had already made up their minds to throw it out of power in the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections.

Appealing to the people to cast their votes against the present Congress-ruled corporation, he said it had failed in living up to the expectations of the people.
