Cong workers burn Mulayam govt in effigy

Lucknow, Apr 29 (UNI) Agitated by yesterday's lathicharge on Congress workers in Kotwali area, party workers today staged a 'dharna' and burnt the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in effigy.

A large number of party workers gathered in front of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly and burnt the UP government in effigy.

Several Congress workers, who were demonstrating in Kotwali area, were wounded after they were lathicharged by police.

The demonstration was staged after the police booked the party workers for violating the model code of conduct, when they were taking out 'Rahul Sandesh Yatra' under the leadership of All India Youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar.

The police had also seized their vehicles.
