Clearance obtained for Polavaram project: CM

Guntur, Apr 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said all statutory clearances had been obtained for the Rs 3,000 crore Polavaram project across river Godavari.

Dr Reddy, who was here to attend a private function, said the project work would commence shortly.

The Chief Minister said the Rs 1,000 crore Pulichintala Irrigation Project on the Krishna river would be completed by 2008, adding water would be released for the 2008 khariff season.

Earlier, Dr Reddy unveiled the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and former President N Sanjeeva Reddy.
