Christian preacher assaulted by masked men in Jaipur

Jaipur, Apr 29 (UNI) Masked assailants today assaulted a Christian missionary at his residence in the Nandpuri locality here.

A Police Spokesman said over a dozen masked men, armed with batons, stormed into Walter Messih's residence and beat him up.

They also ransacked his house.

Unconfirmed reports said the attack was due to Walter's suspected role in conversions.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has condemned the incident.

Party general secretary and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said it was a matter of concern that a group of masked men commited the crime in apprehension of the victim's role in conversions.

He said the state government should order an appropriate inquiry into the incident and take measures to ensure that such incidents were not repeated.
