Acting is a passion for Jyotirmayee
Chennai, Apr 29 (UNI) For Kerala actor Jyotirmayee, whose name symbolises a person surrounded by light, her role in the much awaited film 'Periyar', depicting the life history of the rationalist leader, is a milestone in her career.
For her acting is a passion. ''I want to become a complete actor rather than look for awards'', she said.
She is expected to be in the limelight after the movie hit the screens on May 1.
She was optimistic about her performance in the historical film and hoped that people would appreciate it. ''I am just waiting for the people's reaction'', she said talking to UNI.
''In Periyar it will be a different role altogether'', she said after her performance in hit commercial films like 'Idhaya Thirudan' followed by 'Thalainagaram.' The young artist, in fact, was initially hesitant to accept the offer, but she accepted it after coming to know about the great Dravidian leader, she said.
She did not know anything about the most revered Dravidian leader before signing the film. ''To be frank, I don't know about Periyar. But the director and others told me about Periyar, who was the Father of Tamil Nadu and his contributions''.
''To be honest, initially I am in a dilemma on whether to do such a challenging role. After three days, I decided to be part of it. I gave a good thought about it, went through the books of Periyar, and I accepted it.'' ''Being a part of a historial film like Periyar, is a great thing', she said.
