Villagers lock PHC in HP
Nahan, Apr 28 (UNI) Villagers in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh locked the primary health centre (PHC) after none of its staff member reached the health centre, official and villagers said today.
Residents of Kolidhiman village, about 80 kms from here, in the district locked the PHC at about 1030 hrs yesterday after none of the officials, including the doctor and nurse, reached the centre.
The villagers alleged that this had happened several times in the past and despite several complaints to the district health officials, not much has changed.
They later staged a protest outside the centre and raised slogans against the health authorities before the puffing and huffing doctor reached the PHC at noon.
The imbroglio was only resolved after Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sangram tendered an unconditional apology and promised that the incident would not be repeated again.
It was, however, not clear whether the doctor has been transferred from the PHC or was still panting for breath.
