TTD chairman welcomes ordinance
Vijayawada, Apr 28 (UNI) Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) chairman K Karunakar Reddy today welcomed the Andhra Pradeshgovernment banning propagation of other religions in the Tirumala hills.
At a press conference here, Mr Reddy also hailed the announcement of the state government that the shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala consisted of Seven hills and not two as was being projected by some groups.
The government had come out with the clarification following criticism by some vested interests that the shrine consisted of two hills, he said.
To overcome the summer rush and keeping the interests of the pilgrims in mind, the TTD Board had taken a decision not to accept recommendation letters for darshan of the lord, he added.
